Remaining Useful Life Estimation of Spindle Bearing Based on Bearing Load Calculation and Off-Line Condition Monitoring

Spindles are key components of machine tools. An efficient estimation the spindle condition and its prognosis can improve production efficiency quality due to predictive maintenance planning. This paper proposes a method for predicting remaining useful life (RUL) tool bearings using combined calculation experimental approach. The model based on ISO 281 standard uses monitored real loading conditions caused by machining process operation. enables updated lifetime L10h load distribution. Since operation hours also monitored, be calculated. RUL value is corrected bearing assessment effective vibration velocity RMS according 20816 measured data from control system. proposed tested two different types featuring three pieces every type. results six spindles compared validated with concurrent blind evaluation conducted skilled expert. validation shows very good match expert opinion. combining distribution subsequent result correction signal implementation full automated RUL.
